About Our club

Southlands Riding Club has been providing a home for equestrian sport and recreation in the City of Vancouver since 1943. Located at the heart of the city's unique equestrian community in Southlands, the Club focuses on providing training opportunities for amateur athletes and horses at all levels, from grass roots to Grand Prix.

We're a non-profit society serving approximately 400 riding and non-riding members of all ages and interests. We are also "home" to groups that cater to youth, riders with special needs, polo players, and recreational trail riders. The Club encourages volunteer participation, and welcomes visitors at our many public events.

Riding facilities on the Club’s 16 acres include an indoor arena (100x210’), covered arena (100x245’), five outdoor rings for dressage and jumping, a large grass jumping/polo field, cross-country course, half-mile track, covered and outdoor lunge ring/round pens, and event stabling.

While the Club does not offer horses to lease or hire, several of the stables in the area offer public lesson programs and summer camps. Contact information for these stables is included under the Community tab on our navigation bar.

The Clubhouse, frequently used by community groups such as the New Stride Thoroughbred Adoption Society, STARS (Southlands Therapeutic Riding Society), Southlands Ratepayers Association, Vancouver Pony Club, Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities (PRDA), and Pacific Spirit Park Trail Riders, is available for rental and can accommodate groups of up to 75.

OUR VISION That the Southlands Riding Club be recognized for its strong sense of community pride in a natural semi-rural setting and as a cohesive, beautiful and multi-faceted centre of excellence for all levels of equestrian endeavour within the City of Vancouver.

OUR MISSION  To protect and enhance Southlands Riding Club’s uniqueness and social economic well-being for present and future generations in addition to promoting recreational riding, the welfare of the horse, rider camaraderie, and excellence in a variety of equestrian sports through the provision of:

  • Educational programs,
